Ripple offers the audience a sense of tribal ambience through a combination of rhythmic and geometric patterns. This dynamic short piece was collaborated with Jodie Turner, an emerging artist with cerebral palsy and no verbal communication using the Simpson board; an unique way of choreographing. The dancers began the process by training in the use of the Simpson Board, which provided them with a new avenue into the creative process. The Simpson Board was then used to guide and direct the dancers to realise the final piece.’
My new work commissioned by Salford University ‘Ryhthm’
Rhythm is about how music influences bodies and what comes out from that. Using words from the Simpson board; an unique way of choreographing. The dancers embarked on a journey of improvisation creating a series of rhythmic phases enabling Lisa to select and manipulate movements to create this final piece.

Join us for an evening of inclusive dance, as LPM Dance Theatre presents “Succession”, a triple bill of exhilarating performances featuring Lisa Simpson Inclusive Dance, Indepen-dance and Swati Youth Dance Company.
“Migratory” fuses movement material from contemporary and hip hop dance styles with choreographer Lisa Simpson’s background in visual art to explore the theme of migration. As a choreographer with quadriplegic cerebral palsy who is also a non-verbal communicator, Lisa creates dance pieces through a trained translator. Migratory is Lisa’s first work with a company of non-disabled dancers
In Vous, LPM Dance Theatre’s George Adams and the dancers of Indepen-dance, Scotland’s only professional integrated dance company use full bodied and fluid choreography to look at how we meet each other and how, in this exchange, we aim to find a balance of listening and contributing. Showcasing interaction in episiodic choreograhy, Vous transforms the nuances of everyday life into visual art.
Swati Dance Company is a South East Asian company based in Northwest England.
It is with great pleasure I am able to announce that we have been successful in getting an Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant! Here’s to finally touring the piece ‘Migratory’!!!
